“"If our mind is an ocean, then each thought is a wave worthy of it’s own individual ride. Be careful, not every wave comes in a friendly tide.”
How powerful is it that our brains don’t see anything? When the eyes see something, they catch light from the world. The back part of your eye turns this light into a kind of Morse code, but way more complicated. This code travels along a path, called the optic nerve, all the way to the brain. Then your brains job is to decipher the code.
Your eyes see, and your mind interprets. In between interpreting, our emotions and environment impact how we see. With that in your mind, what do you feel is impacting your vision on a daily basis?
My favorite question to ask my daughter is, what do you see? It helps me understand what she pays attention to, and how to help her focus/learn. So let me ask you…what did you see when you woke up this morning? What caught or had your attention just before this email? These are important questions to know if you are trying to rewire your mind for safety and abundance versus scarcity and fear.
By paying attention to what your paying attention to, what it makes you feel and why, you’ll learn exactly what makes you you. Soon after determining who and where you are, you can determine where you want to go. The only step after that is to make a decision & MOVE in that direction. That’s when the real learning begins. This is the loop of awareness I have been paying attention to on my own journey.
And that’s now. Just 6 years ago I was a ball of anxiety and anger, unaware of most of my triggers and overwhelmed by how to balance all my thoughts and feelings. I am by no means a yoga teacher now, but I have much more control and awareness over what is contributing to my VISION. My progress is owed to my curiosity and commitment to unlearning and relearning. There are many different paths to awareness, but first you have to choose to be more aware. Start from where you are. Ask yourself the easy questions, and work your way to the harder ones.
Need some help starting? Here are some simple questions to get you going:
What have I been thinking about most lately?
Has that been helping or hurting me?
If I could spend my time feeling how I want to feel, doing what I wanted to do, and thinking how I wanted to think, what would I be doing?
It’s never a bad time to find out these answers.
KEEP GOING…
